Not all metal roofs are created equal though. An aluminum roof is the most energy efficient of the metal roofs. Aluminum roofs have been tested scientifically and it's been determined they reduce the amount of heat entering the attic by 34%. Because of aluminum's superior reflectivity, and other physical properties, aluminum is able to reflect a high percentage of the sun's infrared energy, the portion of sun light that is most responsible for attic heat build-up in a home. This means that the air conditioner doesn't have to work as hard to cool the home. Saving energy = saving money.

ROOF EVALUATIONS

Think you need a new roof? Don't begin by calling roofers for quotes. Start with a roof and attic evaluation. An evaluation includes checking the condition of everything that penetrates the attic and roof. Poor ventilation, attic mold, chimney cap leaks, disintegrated flu pipes, and improperly vented bath vent fans are just a few of the things that need to be evaluated before you put on a new roof. Once you get a written evaluation, then you are ready to get a price to do all the work that's necessary.

ALUMINUM RECYCLING

90% of aluminum can recycling is done in the few states who have the five cent deposit on beverage cans.
